「發信息」不是send message

發信息老外直接說 text sb.

就是給某人留言

例：

I‘ll text you as soon as I get home.

我一到家就給你發信息。

Text me when you arrive.

到了就給我發信息。

不管微信、短信

這些消息都可以用text

想強調用「微信」就說

text me on WeChat

「送禮物」≠send a present

首先send的用法是沒錯的

send sb sth 或 send sth to sb

送某人某物

但是這個「送」和我們中文的「送」是有區別的

來看一個例子

他送了我一份禮物。

He sent me a present.✘

He gave me a present.✔

正確的表達應該是：give sb a present

因為send 所指的送其實是：寄送，傳送

除非禮物是郵寄或由專人送去的

否則就不能用這個詞

而give本身就有「贈送」的意思

例：

毛骨悚然，背脊發冷

例：

His words sent a chill down her spine.

他的話讓她脊背發涼。

Can we get out of here？ This creepy old house is sending chills up my spine！

我們能不能走啊，這個老房子真的要把我嚇尿了。

打敗某人，突然解雇某人

例：

I sent my enemy packing.

我打敗了我的對手。

I couldn‘t stand him anymore， so I sent him packing.

我真的受不了他了，所以我把他開除了。

提前做好準備

例：

We sent ahead for room reservations at the hotel.

我們提前訂好了酒店房間。

I will send ahead for a uber to meet us at the station.

我會提前叫一輛uber在車站等我們。

發送不清晰，令人誤解困惑的信息。

例：

My ex-girlfriend has accused me of sending mixed messages about our relationship， as if I‘m trying to get back together with her.

我前女友說我給她發曖昧信息？說的好像我要和她復合哦！
